Things have been kind of quite on the blog lately, but pretty busy in my life. I’m feeling a little overwhelmed, but I’m ok with that as long as I get a nap in today. I got to drive an hour and a half each way to pick up my sister and her husband last night, with a headache and I’m still pretty exhausted from not feeling well this weekend. Yesterday I was wrapping and cleaning for most of the day. My mom, who works 2 jobs voluntarily (crazy lady) asked me to wrap all of her presents too because she doesn’t have time. I got about 15 done yesterday and I have a few more left to do today. Yes, I’ve wrapped a few of my own presents and maybe even picked a few out since we went shopping together. Shhh…
Our Christmas plans have changed a bit, but definitely for the better. We’re going to my uncles about an hour and a half away for Christmas eve. We always spend the night before Christmas with my entire extended family and I love it. I don’t know what I’d do without our family gatherings. Then we were going to drive back home that night and the next day have to drive down to Blaine’s parents house for Christmas day. Since we have the dogs and didn’t set up pet sitting we couldn’t spend the night. That would’ve been a lot of driving and we would’ve been completely exhausted. Luckily we’ve moved Christmas day to our house so my parents, Blaine’s parents and my sister and her husband will be there. We can stay home and not have to drive all over the place, which is nice.
The tree is decorated, most of the presents are there, there are 8 stockings hung, there are Christmas lights on the fence and the roof. It’s feeling very cozy around here and cuddling up on the couch sounds way too appealing, but I still have a ton to do. Mostly just cleaning and picking up. We’re still in the unpacking process and not everything has been put away yet. We still have suitcases in our bedroom with clothes in them. Embarrassing. I also have to plan some meals for Christmas day, though I’m hoping we’ll walk away from my uncle’s house with tons of left overs (like usual) so that I don’t have to do to much on Christmas.
Today my sister, her husband and my dad are coming to town and I’ll be meeting them for breakfast at our favorite breakfast place, The Apple Shed. I’m excited because when my sister is here we share our two favorite dishes since it’s hard to pick. She gets the strawberry stuffed french toast and I get the veggie eggs benedict. Neither is very healthy, but they’re both absolutely amazing. When she’s not around I have to choose one or the other and it’s terrible.
I also have a ton of sewing to do which is a bummer because I’m sort of burnt out on sewing right now and I still have a couple of Christmas presents to sew on top of orders that need to go out this week. But I can’t complain too much, I get to work from home and I’m truly lucky to be able to do that. I’ll just have to suck it up and punch through it. Maybe a little trip to Java Loop (local drive thru coffee shop) will give me the energy to get through my entire “to sew” list in one day. Fingers crossed.
Your tree looks good. A brick fireplace is my dream But my favorites are your doggies, look at this eyes!!
Hello! Visiting from Freckled Nest 🙂 Your Christmas decorations are gorgeous! I cannot wait to get my own place and deck the halls, haha.
I had to adjust Christmas plans this year. I have a puppy & my uncle is kind enough to let me bring her over on Christmas Eve. And like you, Christmas is at my house this year because I can’t leave my pup <3
Following your blog, as well. It’s always inspiring to see pretty BlogSpot blogs. I feel like a lot of my favorites are TypePad, but I love yours so much!
XO, shannon
Each year I always pick a fabulous new blog that I LOVE and put a link on my blog! For 2012 I’ve picked you! SO you are now in my ‘sponsors’ list for the whole of 2012! Thanks for creating such a beautiful blog! x
There is way too little “quiet time” from my dogs at home…you are lucky! 🙂
Just started following your blog…it is wonderfully funny and heartwarming!
I have 4 dogs and 3 cats (all rescues) at my home so I know the need for ‘quiet time’…
Happy Holidays!

PS – found you via Freckled Nest
Bobbi – thanks! I love our fireplace too, I think we’re going to add a wood mantel since right now it’s just all brick, though.
Shannon – thank you! It’s been fun getting to decorate my whole place. I’m totally jealous you have a puppy! I want one so bad, but with 4 dogs already I don’t think we need another one right now haha.
Amy you are so so sweet! Thanks for picking me, I’m flattered and excited 😀
