It’s always amazing to me how fast time flies by. I pinky-sweared myself I’d sort through and post photos from our anniversary trip within a week of getting home and here it is three weeks later.Blaine and I had an amazing time on our trip. It started off on a not-so-great note when I fell down the stairs and twisted my ankle the night before we were to leave. You won’t usually hear me calling a long drive “lucky”, but luckily the drive to our first destination was about 7 hours so I rested my ankle and kept it elevated the entire time. We ended up getting to Prescott, AZ in the early evening. We stayed at Hotel Vendome which is the cutest little historic hotel that is even considered to be haunted. There’s an entire binder on Abby, the resident ghost. During breakfast on our last day I read up on her and the experiences guests have had with Abby and her cat. I knew that if I read them while we were staying there it would scare me. You can judge me, it’s ok.
While in Prescott we did a lot of walking, eating and exploring. The town square is just picture perfect and I would love walking there everyday. We also drove around and explored the town and surrounding towns a bit. Blaine and I have always loved just getting in the car and driving around. We even came across some model homes and checked them out/fell in love. We were there two nights and on the third day of our trip we left Prescott and headed to Vegas.
We stopped at the Grand Canyon “on the way”. And by on the way I mean, a couple hour detour. But I had never been there and Blaine wanted me to see it. I’m deathly afraid of heights, but I admit it is gorgeous and doesn’t even look real. Hilariously enough, I am REALLY afraid of heights to the point of me having to BACK UP to the railing to get a shot of us with the Grand Canyon in the background. Otherwise I had a hard time getting that close to the edge.
When we got to Vegas we met up with my parents and sister who were also there. We spent a lot of time again, walking around and eating. Our family ends up in Vegas at least a couple of times a year, so we know our way around pretty well and just kind of hang out. One of the days Blaine and I went to some Drag Races (so loud!) for the day which was fun for the most part. He won the tickets and we used our points to get a free room in Vegas so it was a pretty budget trip in that sense.
Over all it was a fun little trip and we really enjoyed spending so much time together. It’s so easy to get caught up in everyday life and not really just hang out. I heard on the radio the other day that with most couples, the longer you’re together the less you know about each other because you stop paying attention. I don’t know how true that is, but I hope we get to do little things like this together, just the two of us, every year to celebrate our anniversary and just enjoy being together.
