At least once a week I try to commit myself to staying out of my office/off the computer until Lunchtime so I can get stuff done around the house. Since Blaine comes home for lunch everyday, it helps me break my day up into two parts since I always stop what I’m doing to have lunch with him. Above are some spice racks (from ikea, $3.99!) that I’ll be putting in the bathroom to keep clutter off the counter. In between everything else I was doing I went out and put several coats of paint on them. They’re drying now.
I also cleaned up a cart my sister and I found in the dumpster near my dads house… it just needed a good wipe down.
Used the cart to help organize our Harry Potter closet (aka closet under the stairs) where we keep all the pet food + misc stuff. I have plans to build some shelving in here, but this will do for now.
Made a little stop at Starbucks for Breakfast on my way back from running to get paper towels. Roxy (old lady pup) hasn’t been feeling well so I had the pleasure of cleaning that up all morning.
Organized under the sink a bit.
I really love these days because I get so much crossed of my mental to do list and when I’m done it’s only lunchtime. On top of everything above I did some general cleaning, sweeping, etc. I still need to hang those shelves in the bathroom and I have some other plans for the bathroom this week. I’ve really been in home improvement/diy mode lately. I’m loving it!
I LOVE days like this. Crossing things off to-do lists is such a good feeling!
Yes! Of course a ton of other stuff on my work to-do list suffered, but my house to-do list has been haunting me for a week now 😉
I want to see those spice racks when they’re finished! Also, I love the idea of staying off the computer until noon. Sadly, the first thing I do when I get up is check my email and I despise that part of the routine. Thanks for the fabulous idea!
Definitely! I’m planning a post for the next day or two. My husband just put them up and I’m in LOVE. I think I need more of them ;)And yes — definitely try it! Just once a week makes such a difference. I usually get on the computer as soon as I get up too, but on these days I don’t even go in my office at all or I know I’ll sit down and never get up. I do allow myself to check email on my phone in between tasks, though. I can’t help it.
