Happy 4th of July, friends! I know I’m a day late, but here I am to share our day with you. Living in this little town, we don’t know a lot of people. I’m sure if we were back in our hometown we would’ve had our pick of bbq’s and parties to attend. We spent most of the day at home, trying not to overheat and watching a few episodes of our new favorite show, Sons of Anarchy.
Once it started to get dark we picked up some veggie burgers at Burger King and headed to find a spot to watch the fireworks. We ended up parking by the traintracks next to the airport where they shoot of the fireworks each year. We had an awesome view and the breeze was amazing even though it was still almost 90 degrees, which is odd for our little mountain town once the sun goes down.
While we waited we watched some people hop out of a plane and we got to see a few small planes land and take off. When it got dark the fireworks started. It’s always a pretty impressive show considering we’re a tiny town. Blaine enjoyed it and I actually did too, though I usually hate fireworks. There was one slightly scary moment when a firework shot to the side. I heard a few people had minor burns, nothing major, but still a bit scary. In my hometown they had a big accident where a whole set fired into the audience. Several dozen people were injured, but only minor burns and such, I believe. Fireworks are pretty sketchy, no? But I have to admit, they are pretty. I couldn’t help but think of Disneyland fireworks while we were watching last night. Those are my absolute favorite, minus the fact that it’s hard to find a spot to watch them because DL is so crowded.
Hope you had a nice 4th of July. I’m hopping off the computer now. I decided to take the long weekend off of the computer because my elbow and shoulder have been killing me for the past 2 weeks due to too much computer use. Now that we’ve both had 2 days off we have a whole weekend ahead of us!
