Tehachapi Mountain Festival was over the weekend and we, surprisingly, made appearances every day. On Friday night we decided to head over to the carnival. We ended up hanging out there for probably an hour between walking around there and the surrounding neighborhood that I think is just precious with the big trees and tiny houses. Guess what? We didn’t go on any rides, but we did spend $14 on a churro, chili fries (that’s all blaine) and a vanilla pepsi. I don’t know what they did, but that vanilla pepsi was ah-mazing. It was almost creamy and we had to mix it so I think they put some sort of vanilla syrup or cream in it and it was just so yummy. After we had our fill of carnival food and decided we were too cheap to pay $8 to ride on the gravitron (my favorite!), we went home. It’s not a carnival unless you come home with dusty feet, right? I’ll never learn to not wear flip flops, I guess.
The Tehachapi Mountain Festival is actually a three day event that goes Friday through Sunday. On Saturday we went down to the park where all the booths were. We walked and shopped and again, ate. I think that’s all we really want to do at these things, eat. I got the biggest most delicious Thai Iced Tea ever and we snacked on some veggie chow mien. I’ve been having chow mien cravings like crazy so I was more than excited. Though I (shamefully) prefer panda express’s chow mien. We walked around, checked out the booths, took a few silly pictures and decided to head home. Let’s just say I don’t do well with heat.
On Sunday was the car show. This is Blaine’s favorite, obviously. I did my best to pretend like I cared when he went into too much detail about the specifics of certain cars. I promised that one day we’d be able to buy his dream car. I bought some cute floral shorts on sale from a local boutique, we had delicious mexican food at one of our favorite places in town and then I waited in the nice, cool restaurant while he went back to the car show for the part where everyone turns on their cars at noon. Been there, done that. It’s loud as hell and smells like exhaust so I was happy to sit that one out in the air conditioned restaurant.
All in all it was a fun weekend and because we were out in the heat both days, we pretty much spent the rest of our days relaxing inside watching TV. I try not to watch too much TV or just sit on the couch all day, but I totally made an exception this past weekend and it was the best.
That looks like so much fun!
