Good lord. How is it already August? I feel like I say this every month, but honestly, this year is just flying by and I need a minute to catch my breath. The blog has been a bit quiet and to be honest, so has life due to the fact that we’re the worlds most boring (also lazy) married couple. We literally work during the day then spend our nights watching TV. Isn’t it funny (or not) how your life ends up exactly how you didn’t want it to be? I pictured us going on adventures and finding ways to hang out without TV, but here we are. And for now it’s fine, but I’m working on upping our “get out and do something” levels.Blaine got another car this past weekend to fix up and sell. That man has so much ambition. When his co-worker helped him tow it to the house, he was like “So you’ll have it running by Monday right?”. He was joking. Blaine had it running the same day. I didn’t see him all day, he was in that garage for 8 hours straight and forgot to eat any meals. But he found something he loves to do and he makes decent amount of extra income doing it so for that I am thankful!
I know we’re almost a week into August, but I wanted to share some of my goals this month:
1. Pilates twice a week – I do my best to go to this, but sometimes I talk myself out of it. I convince myself I’m too busy or have something I need to get done that I can’t do later which couldn’t be farther from the truth. The truth is, no matter how busy I am, I need to step away for just an hour twice a week and take care of my body. I sit on my butt at a computer in the same position 8+ hours a day and it’s really starting to take a toll. Pilates has really helped and when I don’t go, I really feel it.
2. Computer free weekends – To go along with the above, when I don’t take those 48 hours of rest during the weekend my right wrist, elbow and shoulder scream with pain as I try to make it through the following week. I know it’s not good for my body and I have so many things I want to accomplish outside of the office. It’s just easier to sit on the computer and get lost reading blogs and working.
3. Finish a book – I’ve been working on Desperation for quite a while now. I need to pick it back up and finish it. It’s good, just very long. I think I need to read something carefree and happy to yank myself out of the darkness of that book when I finally finish it.
4. Spend more time with the dogs – This one sounds a little ridiculous, I’m aware. But honestly, these are my version of children and I love them to death. I hardly see them and it’s usually to let them out to go to the bathroom or walking through the furry, tail-wagging crowd of them to get to the couch and watch TV with Blaine. I’m going to make an effort to sit outside with them and just love on them. Especially Roxy, that old girl is getting older and slower by the second and she needs the extra lovin’.
So that’s it. Some ambitious goals, I know. (sarcastic) Do you have goals for this month? Share or link them below!
