Since we got married on our 5th dating anniversary, we always celebrate both. Seven years sounds like so much longer than two. Let’s be honest, we want credit for those 5 years before we were married! The past 7 years have been amazing. All relationships have their ups and downs, but I truly believe that when you’re with the person you’re mean to be with it should be easy. Obviously everyday life isn’t “easy”, but what we have together is easy and feels right.
Blaine and I met when we were 19 and 20. Moved in together when we were 20 and 21. We were in and out of parents houses, apartments, but always together. When we got married two years ago, I had dreams about this blissful married life. All the irrelevant stuff like a perfectly decorated cozy home (working on it) and having an elaborate, delicious dinner on the table at 5pm when he got home (ha!). That’s not real life and even back then I knew it. But what is real is that I’m still excited everyday to wake up next to my best friend. I’m lucky that I get to spend my life with someone who deals with my constant stream of ideas/obsessions from “I’ve been doing research on dog food…” to “I’m going to open a boutique!” and is always completely present in the conversation.
Seven years sounds like a long time, but when I think about the lifetime we’ll be spending together I know it’s just the beginning. In the time we’ve been together we’ve changed, our lives have changed, our environments have changed and I’m looking forward to experiencing it all!
I went through old photos and while I’m missing a lot from before 2010 due to my external hard drive crashing (heartbreak.) I made it work. I’d also like to personally apologize for 2006 and 2008. I’m not a huge fan of 2009 either, but I’m glad we at least have these pictures to represent our years together!
