Each month I plan to share my blog and biz goals as well as results from previous months. My intention is to be as transparent and helpful as possible to others in creative business by sharing more behind the scenes type of information that most blogs and businesses don’t really give out. Since I’m currently on maternity leave and also taking some time off to mourn the loss of my father, along with summer generally being slow for design work, I’m working on my business and blog while I have a little extra time not doing client work.
Goal #1 | Post three days a week consistently
One thing I really want to get into the habit of is consistently posting three times per week. I’ve been getting much better, but I really want to take blogging a bit more seriously.
Goal #2 | Grow traffic by 10% from June
My traffic has been pretty steady for the past year or so instead of an upward curve which is what I’d like to see more of. My plan for this is to consistently post quality content three times a week (as seen above) as well as making sure I share on all social media outlets, especially pinterest. You can see my traffic stats for the last year below, something I’ve never shared before.
Goal #3 | Work on Blog Rebranding
I’ve been wanting to rebrand AileenBarker.com for a while now, but with getting pregnant and then the unfortunate circumstances around our life lately I haven’t been able to. I haven’t been all that consistent with the current branding so I want to make sure I do it right this time. I’m also considering if I should brand my blog as well as my design website the same way. I’m so in love with my design site that I don’t want to let it go! And I’m also considering just bringing my design site back over to AileenBarker.com instead of having two separate websites. I’ve got some decisions to make.
Goal #4 | Restructure design biz
Restructure my design business packages, services and processes so they are more streamlined. My goal is to be able to focus on each client better by only taking on one or two at a time, for a short amount of time. The old method of taking on a handful of clients and working on several projects at a time for intermittent periods of time wasn’t as efficient as I’d like so it’s time to get some new systems in place! I think my future clients will also appreciate the much faster turn around time and more focused attention.
What are your goals for July?
I think you should cut yourself some slack! You have been busy these last three months. I hope little Atlas is doing well and will be home soon. I think it is great that you have such clear goals for your business. I am thinking about starting a blog and am in the process of learning all I can. Wish me luck! I think that having a clear message and written business plan will be key. Good luck with your goals!
