Surprise! I had a baby last Monday! Baby Barker surprised us all with his arrival on March 23rd — 13 weeks early. I had barely broken in my maternity clothes, hadn’t sent out the baby shower invites or been able to book a maternity photo shoot. The day was a handful of surprises including our baby girl actually being a baby boy, his arrival 13 weeks early and an insane birth story that includes giving birth in a car and Atlas getting to ride in a helicopter within minutes of being born.Due to Atlas being a preemie our lives have been turned completely upside down. My editorial calendar for the blog has gone out the window as we spend all of our time at the NICU about 45 minutes from our house. He’s doing well, but was born at 27 weeks which is very, very early.
Atlas’s birth story will be posted soon. Seriously, you’re not going to want to miss it. It’s one of those stories that no one will ever believe aside from the fact that no one would dare make up a story like that.
We are madly in love with our tiny 2lb baby and would absolutely love your thoughts and prayers while he spends the next few months in the NICU growing and developing.
P.S. I’ve had people ask how they can help contribute to Atlas’s care and my sister has started a GoFundMe fundraiser for us. The cost of caring for Atlas will probably be more than we can even imagine at this point and we appreciate everyone who has been banding together to support our little family.
Oh my goodness! Welcome baby Atlas and congrats to your family. Can’t wait for the birth story. Until then my thoughts are with you while he grows and gets stronger in the NICU. Thank goodness for such advanced technology to help our babies. I hope you are recovering well!
Oh my goodness, I am keeping you and your family in my prayers!xx Kelly
